Chapter Twenty-one

Near the end of this chapter, Ida thinks to herself, "Being in the same room but talking to each other like we were on opposite sides of the ocean turned the best thing into the loneliest thing."


What do you think Ida meant by this?  Please explain yourself fully.

    I think it meant that there was something that Ida wanted to tell her parents but she couldn't because her heart wouldn't let her.

    I think it means that Ida B wanted to tell her parents but her new heart (which is not so good) told her not to.

    her new heart is telling her not to when she is dying to tell her parents.
